Challenge

Amplify were challenged to showcase just how fast 5G can be at Goodwood Festival of Speed, supporting Vodafone’s wider sponsorship.

Insight

Open to new experiences and keen to explore, Goodwood Festival-goers also need a place to relax and take time out from the track that still engages them with all the festival has to offer.

Strategy

Make Vodafone’s brand synonymous with 5G, giving lots of opportunities for social sharing and tapping into the adrenaline of Goodwood’s car culture with high-energy gaming elements.

Solution

Vodafone Refuel Station.

We created the ‘Vodafone Refuel Station’ as a space for festival-goers to experience the speed of 5G, whilst refuelling themselves and their phones. Designed to look like a petrol station, guests could charge their phones in our secure petrol pump lockers whilst they explored the space.

For those looking for more high-energy experiences our ‘High Speed Corner’ let people test their speed in our 4G vs 5G reaction game. Those that made the leaderboard were eligible to win merchandise prizes and the top scorer each day won a helicopter ride at Goodwood later that evening.

The ‘One for the Road’ coffee bar let guests pick up a free coffee to recharge. Free Keep Cups and priority locker spaces were given to Vodafone VeryMe loyalty customers as a reward. Relaxing in the ‘Race Report Lounge’ gave them the opportunity to watch real-time news from Goodwood via our livestream, or unwind in our tyre seating area which had additional wireless charging stations for walk-in guests.

The gamification elements proved extremely popular, from playing the high speed reaction game, creating a 5G wind-powered GIF, or simply grabbing a coffee whilst you charge your phone, there was something for everyone.
