Rogue Landlords

Creating a critically-acclaimed digital campaign for housing charity Shelter.

As part of our work with housing charity Shelter to promote awareness of the issue of irresponsible and exploitative landlords, Amplify created the ‘Rogue Landlord' digital campaign.

The project focused on a short film starring Sean Lock, which we created and promoted using digital and social media channels. Our goal was to encourage people to sign a petition or contact their MP to make landlord accreditation law.

Overall the campaign gained 126 pieces of coverage in print, broadcast, online and vertical media. The film alone gained 42 pieces of coverage in vertical, online and print publications.  Over 200 tweets about the campaign – including messages from Stephen Fry, Armando Ianucci and other key influencers – reached a total audience of 2.5 million.

To date, 15,000 people have engaged with one or more of the campaign’s calls to action: watching the short film, signing the petition or emailing their MP. This makes it one of Shelter’s most successful digital campaigns so far.
